February 2024 RECAP

With the beautiful weather came the first signs of spring. February is one of my favourite times of the year.

My favourite quote this month…

“No one is harder on me than me. So take your judgment and shove it up your ass.”

#FACT we are always our own worst enemies. Well I am anyway.

DAY TO DAY LIFE

This month was tricky emotionally, but I was happy with the progress I made, even if it was slow.

I dove into planning an epic Mario Day for March, I started sourcing and planning the decorations. If you want to do your own here is my Pinterest Board.

Getting through this month meant taking it one day at a time, not putting too much pressure on myself, especially if I had a low day.

Getting out of the house has been hard for me, anxiety kicks in so I have been making sure that I have a fun thing planned to get me out of the house. To make sure I didn’t overwhelm myself, I only planned one thing, and that was visiting the local cat café. Cats are the best for my mental health.

Chris and I visited Finnegan’s Whiskers Cat Café for a second time. We both fell in love with 3 street cats from Dubai (a mum and two boys).

It is officially my favourite place to go in Sudbury, the cats are awesome, the coffee is fantastic, and the cakes and sausage rolls are delicious!!

Book your visit here.

OPERATION HOUSE TO SANCTUARY CONTINUED

Next up for the house was the laundry area and boxes of toys. Part of this project is to declutter, so if something doesn’t have a home or a use, I am getting rid of it.

Laundry Area

It took me a long time to figure out how I wanted this space to function. FINALLY, I got it done and I am so happy with how it looks, but even better, how it functions!

My favourite part is the “Express Laundry Service” sign. No more answering “what do I do?”

I threw out a whole bunch of recipes that I will never make, you know how you print recipes that you plan on making and then never do.

I have all my cookbooks, medications, vases and laundry supplies to hand. Plus, it is easy to keep tidy and organised. Everything has a place.

Toys

The boxes of toys we had were out of control, toys were all mixed up and I knew there were some things that Drew would want to keep for himself.

I went through all the Disney Cars, hot wheels and die cast cars. There are way too many! I cleaned up the car garage, found all the pieces and manuals for the various tracks we have. It took a long time to sort through it all but was worth it.

I started making Owen’s Zoo for all the stuffed animals, although it is more for me as Owen doesn’t play with them. I wanted somewhere fun to store all of them. Plus, the unit I built made it possible to store all the Chuggington trains and tracks and a crate for the smaller stuffed animals.

It felt like so much progress was made, even though it might not have looked like it. While dealing with the physical clutter, I was also dealing with my mental clutter.

Slow and steady right!
